مدارهاي تايمر STWD100 واچ‌داگ دستگاه‌هاي خودکفايي هستند که از بروز خطاهاي سيستمي ناشي از برخي انواع خطاهاي سخت‌افزاري (مانند تجهيزات جانبي که پاسخ نمي‌دهند يا تداخل باس) يا خطاهاي نرم‌افزاري (مانند پريدن به کد اشتباه يا گير کردن در يک حلقه) جلوگيري مي‌کنند.
تايمر واچ‌داگ STWD100 داراي ورودي WDI و خروجي WDO است. ورودي براي ريست کردن تايمر واچ‌داگ داخلي به‌طور دوره‌اي در مدت زمان تايم‌اوت مشخص استفاده مي‌شود. زماني که سيستم به درستي کار مي‌کند، ورودي واچ‌داگ (WDI) به‌طور دوره‌اي تغيير وضعيت مي‌دهد. اگر سيستم دچار نقص شود، تايمر واچ‌داگ ريست نمي‌شود و هشدار سيستم صادر شده و خروجي واچ‌داگ (WDO) فعال مي‌شود.

Description
The STWD100 watchdog timer circuits are self-contained devices that prevent system failures caused by certain types of hardware errors (such as non-responding peripherals and bus contention) or software errors (such as a bad code jump or a code stuck in a loop).
The STWD100 watchdog timer has an input, WDI, and an output, WDO. The input is used to periodically clear the internal watchdog timer within the specified timeout period, twd. While the system is operating correctly, it periodically toggles the watchdog input, WDI. If the system fails, the watchdog timer is not reset, an alert is generated, and the watchdog output, WDO, is asserted.
The STWD100 circuit also has an enable pin, EN, which can enable or disable the watchdog functionality. The EN pin is connected to an internal pull-down resistor. The device is enabled if the EN pin is left floating.
